Saffron Walden County High School

After initial successful sample trials, to test the performance and reliability of the T7-S PC Saffron Walden School took delivery of and deployed ninety T7-S PCs in August 2008. The school has an estate of nine hundred PCs and there was an opportunity to substantially save power costs, and of course carbon emissions!

‘’We are a specialist school – one of the first Technology colleges in fact! It is important we provide our students with an exceptional learning environment. As the ICT manager here I had the task of upgrading our computer equipment to provide a reliable, cost effective and low power solution. I came across Tranquil PC Ltd in PC PRO magazine and after evaluating the power, cost and energy emissions decided the T7-S PC solution ticked all the boxes in terms of reducing our schools carbon footprint and significantly lowering our power consumption.
In addition to these changes I was surprised at the small yet robust nature of these units, this is definitely an added bonus in a school environment and with the use of the innovative wall bracket the mounting options are quite varied’’

Not only will these T7-S PCs make direct and immediate power cost saving, there are also in-direct savings too. By reducing the power output of the PC this reduces the requirements for air conditioning. The heat reduction from thirty T7-S PCs in a classroom, compared to regular PCs is approximately 7600 Btu.

The following information can indicate savings per classroom of thirty PCs:

* based on the following data: 30x installed PCs - running 35 hours / week / 40 week year – comparison to a regular (100W) PC – power costs of £0.20 / kWH over the next 4 years – 1kWH generates 0.43Kg of CO2 – 1kW equals 3412 Btu – 8000 Btu A/C unit uses 1kW - A/C is used half of the year - Life cycle increases from 3 years to 5 years - No additional energy management is used.
