- What
PCI cards can be used ?
Answer - any PCI card (up to 2) that measure up to 200mm in depth.
- What
about power consumption of the PCI cards and numerous hard disk drives ?
Answer - the standard PSU is adequate for all motherboard / CPU options + 2x
HDD + 1x slim line optical + 2x PCI cards.
- Does
the unit get hot ?
Answer - No, under idle conditions the diode on the CPU will report a
temperature of approx 10-12 c above ambient. If a VIA CPU is run hard (100%)
for extended periods, the CPU diode may report temperatures of 60-75 c i.e.
40-55 c above ambient (which is well within the specification of 85 c for
the VIA CPUs) - but this is not the temperature of the external heat sink,
this may be warm to the touch. If a Pentium M CPU is run hard (100%) for
extended periods, the CPU diode may report temperatures of 45-55 c i.e.
25-35 c above ambient (which is well within the specification of 100 c for
the Pentium M CPUs) - but this is not the temperature of the external heat
sink, this may be warm to the touch.
- Is
the IR RX free ?
Answer - Yes, the IR RX device, which is a standard 38KHz infrared decoder
IC, is supplied as standard - and is free. A short cable is provided that
allows you to connect the IR RX device, internally, to your PVR card etc.
Only for the knowledgeable PC / electronics user. Alternatively, order your
unit with a PVR card.
